How to connect a WooCommerce store for India Post dispatch
2 min readUpdated 20 January 2026PostVery product team
WooCommerce gives you full control over your store data, which also means shipping tools have to be explicit about what they read and write. Here is the setup that keeps the connection secure and predictable.
Requirements
- WooCommerce 7.0 or newer on PHP 7.4 or newer
- HTTPS enabled on the store domain
- Permalinks set to anything other than Plain, so REST routes resolve
- An administrator account that can create API keys
Creating REST API credentials
- 1In WordPress, go to WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API.
- 2Choose Add key, give it a description such as 'PostVery dispatch'.
- 3Set permissions to Read/Write — read for orders, write for order meta and status updates.
- 4Copy the consumer key and secret once; WordPress will not show them again.
- 5Paste them into the PostVery store connection screen.
Keys can be revoked from the same WordPress screen at any time. Revoking immediately stops all synchronisation.
Mapping order statuses
Decide which Woo statuses mean 'ready to dispatch' and which status an order should move to once a shipment is handed over. A common configuration is to pull processing orders into the queue and move them to completed after handover.
| Woo status | Typical dispatch meaning |
|---|---|
| processing | Paid and ready to pack |
| on-hold | Awaiting payment confirmation — usually excluded |
| cod-confirmed (custom) | COD order verified by phone, safe to dispatch |
| completed | Set automatically after handover |
Custom checkout fields
Stores that collect the phone number or landmark in a custom field need a one-time mapping so those values reach the label. Map them during setup rather than editing addresses later in the queue.
